Old West Tampa boundaries are Saint Joseph Street to the north, Interstate 275 to the south, Rome Avenue to the east and Armenia Avenue to the west.[1]

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 2,115 people and 690 households residing in the neighborhood. The population density was 6,068/mi². The racial makeup of the neighborhood was 5% White, 67% African American, 0% Native American, 1% Asian, and 1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 26% of the population.
There were 1,456 households out of which 33% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 27% were married couples living together, 28% had a female householder with no husband present, and 6% were non-families. 28% of all households were made up of individuals.
In the neighborhood the population was spread out with 34% under the age of 18, 24% from 18 to 34, 16% from 35 to 49, 14% from 50 to 64, and 13% who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 103.4 males.
The per capita income for the neighborhood was $11,640. About 30% of the population were below the poverty line, 49% of those are under the age of 18.
